Course Introduction

This course will give medical receptionists/administrators an understanding of Information Governance, and how this relates to their role. It will provide delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to manage the complex issue of maintaining confidentiality in a medical setting.

This course is interactive with group work and discussion.

Course Aims

  • To gain an understanding of the importance of confidentiality within a General Practice setting including an understanding of Government guidelines

  • Caldicott review, principles and guardians

  • Freedom of Information
  • Definition of Confidentiality, and what is meant by 'Confidential Information'

  • Sensitive Personal Information
  • Common pitfalls with regards to breaches of confidentiality
  • Consent
