Description

As a practitioner it’s vital to be able to work as part of a wider multi disciplinary team. When a client is injured or has injuries it’s key to understand where on the injury and return to fitness continuum each practioner sits and their scope of practice.

Being able to understand this process, deliver within it and work alongside each areas of expertise allows the patient & client to continue working & training effectively towards a positive outcome. This workshop is ideal for personal trainers, practioners and physiotherapists looking to further their knowledge in the re-conditioning process.

During this 2 day workshop we will cover in theory and practice;

  • Role of a Sports Physio

What is a sports physio, what should be expected from them, and what do they expect from trainers and other specialists?

  • Role of Sports Doctor

What is an SEM (Sports & Exercise Medicine) doctor, what is their role and what should do they expect from the physio's and trainers?

  • Role of S&C coach, trainer & re-conditioner

What is the role of the practitioner in the gym, what do physios's expect from trainers and what should trainers expect form physio's and other specialists?

  • Assessments

A series of assessments clinicians carry out on the major joints (back, neck, shoulder, knee, ankle) to assess certain injuries. These will be shown to you giving you a better understanding of what physio’s look at and why.

  • When to Refer

When should you refer to sports physio for further opinion and guidance? When do physio’s look to refer back to conditioners and trainers?

  • Further Assessments

Beyond the basic assessments - use of jump landings, jump testing, isokinetics and pressure cuff

  • Phases of Re-Conditioning

What is re-conditioning and it’s different phases - an overview of early, mid, end stage re-conditioning and return to sport

  • Planning, Programming & implementation for Re-Conditioning

Principals of programme design and implementation in an injury and re-conditioning setting
