Injustice at the Assembly
Event Information
Description
On 16th January 2018 at 6pm for a 6.30pm start, Neil McEvoy AM will be sponsoring the preview of 'Injustice' a new film about prisoners and crime to contribute towards a discussion on justice and prisons. He believes the event is timely given that the UK Government is imposing two Super Prisons on Wales, following the worst prison riots in decades in 2016-17.
The film is unlike most documentaries made about prisons as Injustice, produced by an independent film maker, tells its story through the words of prisoners and their families, prison workers, campaigners and academics.
The film will start at 6.30pm and guests are invited to stay on at the end for a Q&A session with film makers and Michael O'Brien, a man who spent 11 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.
Gyda chefnogaeth Neil McEvoy AC, cynhelir dangosiad ar Ionawr 16fed (6pm ar gyfer 6.30pm) o ffilm newydd 'Injustice', am garcharorion a throseddu, fel hwb i drafod materion cyfiawnder a charchardai. Dyma ddigwyddiad amserol, oherwydd y ffordd mae Llywodraeth y DU wedi gorfodi dau Arch-Garchar ar Gymru, a’r cythrwfl mewn carchardai ym 2016-17, y gwaethaf mewn degawdau.
Nid yw’r ffilm hon yn debyg i’r cyfryw ar garchardai gan fod Injustice, a gynhyrchwyd gan wneuthurwr ffilmiau annibynnol, wedi rhoi lle i’r cyfranwyr fynegi’u straeon yn eu ffordd eu hunain, boed carcharorion a’u teuluoedd, gweithwyr carchar ac ymgyrchwyr, neu academyddion.
Bydd y ffilm yn dechrau am 6.30pm (angen cyrraedd yn gynt ar gyfer mesurau diogelwch) a bydd cyfle i ymuno â sesiwn Holi ac Ateb i ddilyn, gyda gwneuthurwyr y ffilm a gwestai arbennig, gan gynnwys Michael O'Brien, a garcharwyd ar gam am 11 o flynyddoedd.
Panel Holi ac Ateb:
Faith Spear: Troseddegwr Annibynol, cyn-Gadeirydd Bwrdd Monitro Annibynnol
Michael O’Brien : Awdur
Claire Melville: Aelod Howard League for Penal Reform, Ymgyrchydd Diwygio Carcharau, Troseddegwr
