Inky Owls: A Sketching & Ink Workshop

Join Nicola Storr from Nicolour Illustration for a fun and creative workshop where you'll learn to embrace the unpredictability of ink and create bold and expressive inky owls!

In this relaxed and friendly session, you’ll focus on sketching and harnessing black ink and adding splashes of vibrant colour. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop is all about exploring the exciting, unpredictable nature of ink and using it to create stunning artwork.

Nicky will guide you through every step, offering helpful tips on how to sketch with ink, build texture, and experiment with colour to bring your owls to life. She’ll also share inspiration from her own sketches and images, encouraging you to embrace the spontaneous and sometimes surprising results that come with working with ink.

Starting with bold ink outlines, Nicky will help you explore how to balance control and spontaneity, guiding you to create beautiful, inky owl illustrations that reflect your unique style.

Come along for a nurturing, hands-on experience, and walk away with an inky owl masterpiece that captures the magic of ink!

Skill Level: Suitable for beginners as well as more experienced artists.

The Craft House was established in 2016 in Saltaire by April Chamberlain, who continues to manage the business. Having started in Saltaire, The Craft House is now run from new, larger, premises at 109-111 Main Street, Bingley. We have a lovely ground floor cafe and welcoming workshop spaces on the first floor (reached by stairs with two handrails). We offer a vibrant programme of art, craft and textile workshops and courses for adults, enabling you to develop existing skills as well as try new activities. Working closely with a team of talented artist/maker tutors, we provide expertly-run classes in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. We cater for a range of skill levels, from first-time participants to people with existing skills (including other professional artists and makers looking to develop their techniques). Our emphasis is on encouraging creativity and enjoyment whilst passing on key skills. We also cater for private parties and events - please telephone us or call into the cafe to discuss. Please note that all our events are subject to us achieving minimum booking requirements, as we need to ensure they are commercially viable for our tutors - if we have to cancel an event, we will refund your ticket and give you as much notice as possible.
