Event description

Description

Event Descripton:

Innovate Now is an all-new and invite-only event hosted by hedgehog lab.

The event will inform of and provide access to new concepts and technologies, and ultimately demonstrate how the adoption of them can and will benefit your organisation - whichever industry you operate within.

We will welcome two guest speakers to the lab, one of whom will provide an informative presentation explaining the subject before we introduce a second speaker who will draw on experience to demonstrate the impact of adoption.

Speaker Profile - Paul Sutherland:

Paul Sutherland FCIM AMRS, Senior Partner at +ADD Strategy boasts over 20 years of experience in technology commercialisation and design thinking.

Paul will be on hand to explain how embracing agile and design-led innovation in corporate environments enables leaders to identify where change is needed and how to effectively implement the concepts.

Paul promises that his talk will explore the challenges in and approaches to solving 'big' problems, exploiting 'abstract' opportunities and discussing how to accelerate transformation in complex and political environments using open innovation, contemporary agile and design thinking methods and tools with case studies.

With extensive experience of working in design thinking across a broad business interface, Paul is experienced in inspiring improvement in organisations. He is working with a variety of clients ranging from supporting the development of subsea robots to creating smarter cities.

He is very active with NWL where +ADD has delivered 16 innovation projects in the past 2 years. As well as running his own agencies in strategic marketing, innovation support and design, he is a lecturer at Newcastle University Business School.

Previously, Paul has also been Director of Innovation at NCFE, Assistant Director of marketing strategy at Northumbria University and manager of the Centre for Technology Commercialisation, a multimillion pound NE programme.

Paul has also supported a range of professional bodies, third sector and business support agencies as well as invested initiatives as a Non-Executive Director, trustee or board advisor. You can see more about Paul here.

Speaker Profile - Kimberley Abbott:

Kimberley Abbott is responsible for Customer Innovation and Strategic Growth at Thales. Kim's role consists of devloping new markets, products and services, which requires her to analyse future trends and be at the forefront of innovation.

Named as one of the Financial Review's Top 100 Women of Influence, Kim was named the 2012 Young Australian Citizen of the Year and has also been a member of the official Austrailian Government Delegation to the United Nations Commission.

Elsewhere, Kim helped to create the world's most advanced artificial heart, co-founded and ran the successful ‘Yes WE(women Engineers) can!’ girls in engineering program and was the co-founder and CEO of Roka, an award-winning social enterprise developed to break the cycle of poverty in rural India through economic empowerment of women and education.

A social entrepeneur, popular public speaker, consultant, businesswoman, mentor and leader with years of experience in innovation, Kim will provide a more practical outlook on the implementation of innovation methods. We are delighted to have her on board. You can find more about Kim here.
