Event description

Description

Rehabilitation and assistive technology - new trends and innovation for work in LMIC's.

The ADAPT committee hopes you’ll join us for our annual study day. It promises to be an informative and innovative day of sharing knowledge, skills and ideas for the future of assistive technology (AT). Our study days are relaxed, friendly and open to any rehab professional / student who has an interest in international development or working with disabled populations.

AT is becoming increasingly talked about in the global sphere with pressures being put on local and governmental organisations to provide access for the world's 1 billion disabled people who may be in need of AT. The sustainable development goals as well as other pieces of influential global policy are helping to drive this discussion and highlight the inequality in access to services.

As physiotherapists we are often at the forefront of thinking about people's functional problems and how AT can be used to overcome challenges and help people reach their potential. This day will harness these skills as well as providing the opportunity to develop our innovation of new ideas and sustainability of projects.

Attending this study day will give you the opportunity to:

- Hear from those with first hand experience of using AT in low resource settings - including a prosthetics project in Ghana

- Network with other like minded individuals working in global health

- Learn from experts in the field of innovation

- Expand your CPD

- Think practically and creatively!
