The 2020 Innovating Justice Forum will focus on Building the Business Case for Financing Justice.
The justice gap has been defined by landmark reports in 2019. Demand for effective justice services from people is huge. We look to find what are the investable opportunities that will bridge the justice gap?
As always, the HiiL Innovating Justice Forum is the place where perspectives on user friendly justice meet: bottom up and institutional; start up and courts; informal and formal justice; innovation and research; UN inspired movements next to innovation in Lagos, Nairobi, Johannesburg, The Hague or Kyiv; and transformation in Abuja, Bamako and Beirut.
The purpose of the forum is to:
- Get a birds eye view of the needs for financing justice
- Understand the dynamics of current financial streams in the justice sector
- Explore the best innovations and how revenues can be increased
- Define measurable outcomes to make the case for investment
- Budgeting and public/private partnerships to finance 100% access to justice
Day 1: Fourteen justice innovations from around the world compete in the Innovating Justice Challenge. A jury pannel will assess the models and impact and decide who is the world champion. We also host five pressure cooker sessions that focus on questions relating to financing justice innovation from the perspective of judicial bodies, ministers and government, impact investors, the private sector and users (citizens). Key participants from all sectors are faciliating these pressure cookers. All continents are represented. Venue: Nieuwspoort, The Hague.
Day 2: The Peace Palace is where we host a knowledge exchange in the auditorium where you can engage with innovators, investors, experts in either finance or justice delivery and leadership that delivers on the sustainable development goals. We host Breakout Sessions during the day on topics interesting topics relating to financing user friendly justice. We will have the Netherlands premiere of the documentary, The Justice Leaders. The highlight of the day is the presentaiton of a user friendly justice budget that is a fully-costed budget that delivers 100% justice care in 2025. You are invited to help co-build this session.
