Embedding Equality in the transition to Net Zero

In this month’s seminar we are joined by Dr Alison Parken OBE and Professor Rachel Ashworth who reflect on recent collaborative research with the Welsh Government.

The project explored how to mainstream equality in policymaking to achieve an equal and just transition to Net Zero.

In this workshop , Alison and Rachel will discuss how the research, undertaken through a collaborative research partnership of sustainability and equality expert partners, policymakers and academics, gathered evidence and created long-term solutions.

This in-person workshop will also explore whether conceptualisations of a Just Transition are too narrow and reflect on whether, if equality is mainstreamed into the transition to Net Zero, we can create opportunities to transform the labour market, skills requirements, education, training and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Yn y gweithdy hwn bydd Dr Alison Parken OBE a’r Athro Rachel Ashworth yn ymuno â ni i fyfyrio ar ymchwil cydweithredol diweddar gyda Llywodraeth Cymru.

Archwiliodd y prosiect sut i ffrydio cydraddoldeb wrth lunio polisïau er mwyn cyflawni trosglwyddiad cyfartal a chyfiawn i Net Sero.

Yn y gweithdy hwn, bydd Alison a Rachel yn trafod sut y bu i’r ymchwil, a wnaed trwy bartneriaeth ymchwil gydweithredol o bartneriaid arbenigol cynaliadwyedd a chydraddoldeb, llunwyr polisi ac academyddion, gasglu tystiolaeth a chreu datrysiadau hirdymor.

Bydd y gweithdy hefyd yn archwilio a yw cysyniadau Pontio Cyfiawn yn rhy gul ac yn ystyried os caiff cydraddoldeb ei brif ffrydio i’r trawsnewid i Sero Net, a allwn greu cyfleoedd i drawsnewid y farchnad lafur, gofynion sgiliau, addysg, hyfforddiant a chyfleoedd entrepreneuraidd.
