Speaker: Elaine Toogood Senior Architect with expertise in concrete and sustainability, The Concrete Centre. This talk will present a selection of innovative products, uses and forms of concrete, developed to meet the requirements of contemporary design and construction. Examples range from early prototypes still in development, to innovation already usefully employed by industry. Topics included are: · Concrete the material: Development in manufacturing techniques and the properties of concrete including ultra-high-strength, low carbon and self-compacting concrete · Innovative finishing techniques and textures for visual concrete · New products for the use of concrete facilitating design and construction for high thermal performance, including low conductivity connectors and structural insulation.
