Event description
Smart Social Housing Innovation in Independent Living event - Hosted by Southway Housing Trust - Sponsored by Secure Meters

About this Event

Independent living technology has evolved rapidly in recent years, as housing and care providers use the analogue to digital switchover to consider new, connected solutions.

Some early adopter landlords and care providers across the North West of England are blazing a trail with a new generation of web-connected solutions, including wearable and non-wearable sensor technologies.

These Internet of Things (IoT) solutions have the potential to deliver new freedoms to thousands of people living in older-age and with numerous conditions such as dementia; reducing the burden on family, carers and primary care.

Hosted by Southway Housing Trust and sponsored by place-tech specialists Secure Meters, ‘Innovation in Independent Living’ will bring together care technology thought leaders from across the region to share live examples of innovation and good practice, providing a useful foundation for action moving forward.

Discover first-hand how new technologies are:

  • Reducing isolation
  • Preventing falls
  • Supporting those with dementia and other conditions
  • Monitoring medication, hydration and food intake
  • Alerting when help is needed

Southway has a well-established age-friendly strategy which sets out priority actions to improve the quality of life for older people, and in 2017 Greater Manchester was defined by the World Health Organisation as the UK’s first age-friendly city.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Karen Mitchell, CEO, Southway Housing Trust
  • Julia Ashley, CEO, Central & Cecil Housing Trust
  • Jonathan Drake, Service Director, Salix Living
  • Rob Padwick, Clinical Lead, Secure Meters (UK) Ltd

The event is free for anyone working for a social landlord, local authority or care provider – and is ideally suited to those leading commissioning or delivering adult care. Breakfast and lunch provided.

Smart Social Housing is a forum specifically created for the sharing of innovation and good practice.
