Simon Thake & Lisette Baker from The Children's Food Trust will be presenting on the subject of 'Getting the Nation Cooking, Our Journey so Far"
Simon Thake has been with the Children’s Food Trust for over seven years and during that period has taken on a number of roles. As a children’s food consultant Simon worked directly with schools and local authorities to improve their catering services. Simon previously worked as a trainer for the Home Office which helped him to develop and deliver the ‘School Cooks Train the Trainer’ course across the UK. Since 2013 Simon has worked as a ‘Let’s get Cooking’ Regional Manager delivering cookery training in a variety of environments and to numerous age groups including ‘Dads and Lads Cookery Training’ foster carers training in Scotland, cookery training for 5-11 year olds & as part of the ‘Tesco Eat Happy’ campaign in Summer 2014.
Lisette Baker has been with the Children’s Food Trust since the ‘Let’s Get Cooking’ programme began nine years ago, and is a Regional Manager for Yorkshire and the Humber. In that time Lisette has taught hundreds of adults and children how to cook. As a former primary school teacher and Deputy Head in Sheffield Lisette always believed in the importance of cooking both as a life skill and as something to enjoy and found food activities a great way to motivate children and help them learn. Lisette had a previous career working for the BBC in London as a researcher.
