About this event

Offering insider insights into the northern publishing landscape, these industry insiders can talk about what it’s like to navigate the literary industry. We have a speaker from Mslexia Magazine, New Writing North and from acclaimed independent publishing house, Haunt Publishing. Hear from industry professionals as they demystify what really happens behind the scenes.

Tickets £3 per person (plus booking fee). Suitable for ages 16+

HAUNT PUBLISHING launched in 2019 and is an independent publisher of Gothic, horror and dark fiction books. Dedicated to exploring both traditional and contemporary Gothic and horror literature, Haunt holds a flickering candle to global and underrepresented voices. Haunt is led by Rebecca Wojturska, who loves all things Gothic. With three dissertations in Gothic literature and almost a decade’s experience in publishing, she has finally combined her two loves.

MAXINE DAVIES is the production editor at Mslexia magazine and produces Mslexia’s Indie Press Guide, a directory of independent presses in the UK and Ireland. She has a degree in History and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature from Newcastle University. In 2021 she was named as one of the Printing Charity’s Rising Stars.

SARAH FRANCE is Research and Programme Manager at New Writing North. She works on A Writing Chance, a writer development programme for writers from working-class and other underrepresented backgrounds, and on the Northern Writers' Awards, which supports writers in the North at varied stages in their careers.

This event is part of our WRITE Festival which takes place throughout the whole of September. Enjoy a programme of unmissable events, workshops and performances!
