What is the aim of Inquiry of Reading?

The sessions use reading as a starting point for exploring themes and concepts that are pertinent to our lives. Using short selected extracts, we'll explore a range of writers, texts and social and cultural contexts to ask powerful questions to provoke, inspire and transform.

Is Inquiry of Reading a lecture?

Accepted Answer

No! While Rachel will present some (short!) background information about the book and/or the author, this is very much an interactive event that relies on community input. Please bring your ideas, reflections, questions and comments!

Question 3

Is Inquiry of Reading a book club or reading group?

Accepted Answer

No! You can come to as many or few events as you like. Whereas a book club tends to focus on discussion of the book itself, in Inquiry of Reading we’ll use the extract/the chosen text as a way into inquiry – in other words, what we might learn or take from the book and apply in our own lives.

Question 4

Do I need to have read the book to attend?

Accepted Answer

No! If you want to read the book ahead of time, that’s great. But Rachel will tease out the key themes and issues and share a very short extract (which we’ll read together in the session) as a jumping off point for discussion.
