Welcome to Inside and Outside!

Thanks for your interest in booking a place on our workshop. This day is designed with adults in mind but younger people are welcome to attend too, if accompanied by an adult.

This is the latest in a series of wellbeing days bringing the skills of three creative practitioners together. We’re really looking forward to seeing you there. Please keep this information stored safely – below you’ll find more information about the day, including directions to our venue and details about what to bring.

More information about the content:

In the morning, Nancy will guide us through gentle somatic yoga sequences, firstly to help us feel grounded in ourselves and then to reach out and connect with others in the group. In the afternoon Kate will offer singing games and songs, some from a range of musical traditions and some specially written. Throughout the day, Kathryn will help tie the activities together by focussing on individual and shared writing activities.

All the activities will be person-centred: we will work responsively and as a participant you are encouraged to focus on your needs while maintaining a spirit of generosity to the other people present. If you are nervous about a particular aspect, for example you have been told in the past you cannot sing, struggle with balance or have to cope with dyslexia, then please do contact us. One of us will email you to discuss how we can help to make the day more comfortable for you.

Directions:

Rushbury Village Hall is in the village of Wall Under Heywood, near Church Stretton. It’s on the B4371 – the road connecting Church Stretton to Much Wenlock.

Postcode: SY6 7DX

What to bring:

Please bring some provisions for our (weather permitting) outdoor picnic lunch. We will supply tea, coffee, herbal tea and juice.

If you have them, please also bring a yoga mat and blanket. We will have lots of spares, so it’s not a problem if you don’t have either of these things.

If you have favourite pens and notebooks for writing please feel free to bring your own but we will supply some too.

Music will be taught by ear primarily, but there will be lyrics and dots available for people who are more at ease with visual learning.

Wet weather provision:

If slightly wet weather is forecast, we would still like to take advantage of our beautiful natural surroundings during the workshop. So please bring wet weather gear and footwear suitable for walking over grass.

If torrential rain and gales are forecast, we’ll stay indoors! Thankfully we have the use of a really big hall, with full windows looking out over green spaces.

We look forward to seeing you soon,

Best wishes,

Kate, Nancy and Kathryn

Frequently asked questions

Is the event accessible?

Yes the venue is fully accessible with level entrances and a wide accommodating ground floor hall area, loos and kitchen. The outside area is also level although some of it is turfed.

Can I bring my dog?

Sadly not, even though we all love dogs, this really is not an event for them.

Will there be refreshments?

Yes. We will provide a selection of hot and cold drinks throughout the day. However please bring your own food for lunch or breaks. If you have special requirements please let us know.

Will the event be cancelled in the event of bad weather?

No. Although we have plans for outdoor time we will adapt and spend our time inside the venue if necessary. It is spacious and comfortable.

Is prior experience necessary?

Absolutely not. Everyone is welcome, just come as you are with or without experience. The leaders all work from your starting point.
