During my Anne Frank Tour, I’m often asked if we will be going inside the house. Unfortunately, guides are not permitted to work inside the Anne Frank house, so I am unable to show you how the annex looks from the inside. That is, until now… Using the footage created for the Anne Frank foundation VR app we are able to go inside the house and explore the hiding place of Anne Frank and her family. This virtual reality footage provides a very special view into the Secret Annex where Anne Frank and the seven other people hid during WWII. In this video, all of the rooms in the secret annex are furnished according to how it was when it was occupied by the group in hiding, between 1942 and 1944. In reality, however, this is not the case, as, in the actual museum, all of the rooms in the secret annex are empty. As we move around the annex, I will share with you some stories and quotes from the people who lived there. The footage is so realistic, you can almost taste the dust in the air, and at times it’s a little overwhelming. Together we will discover what life was like for Anne, inside the secret annex.
