Event description
Inside the Boardroom - understanding strengths, navigating potential pitfalls and learning how to build and structure an effective company.

About this event

This workshop aims to provide attendees with a practical understanding of which issues to consider when starting and running an early stage spin-out business.

It will introduce attendees to a wide range of legal and compliance issues, whilst also working through examples of useful documents that can be used in the early days of building and running a board.

This course should be attended prior to attending the more in-depth follow-on workshops, including:

· Role of the Director

· Finance for Directors

· An Effective Board

Agenda

· Pre event quiz: Have you got the entrepreneurial gene?

· Business structure variety

· Introduction to Shareholder protection and agreements vs articles of association

· Introduction to different director types

· Example Meeting agendas and minutes

· Health and safety management for directors and business owners: including risk assessments for home working and car use

· Stakeholder engagement including funders, staff and customers
