You’ll meet:
Ebruba Abel-UnokanAssistant Editor, PicadorI am an assistant editor at Picador, where I acquire and edit adult fiction and manage the poetry list. I am interested in literary and speculative fiction novels and works of domestic realism with strong social or political commentary, such as Kazuo Ishiguro, Zadie Smith and Tessa Hadley. I also acquire lyric poetry.
Gillian GreenTor Publisher, Bramble and NightfireI have worked with some of the biggest names in genre fiction including Julia Quinn, Nora Roberts/JD Robb, Andy Weir and Katherine Arden. I launched the fantasy romance and romantasy list Bramble in 2024 and the boutique horror list, Nightfire, in 2025. I am particularly looking for a fresh take on fantasy romance and romantasy, as well as more reading group speculative fiction for our list. Authors I currently work with include Carissa Broadbent, TJ Klune, J.T. Geissinger, Sarah Beth Durst and Dhonielle Clayton.
Kesia LupoCommissioning Editor, Macmillan Children’s BooksI am Commissioning Editor for the First Ink list at Macmillan Children's Books, working on books for teen/YA/crossover readers. I'd particularly love to see original, immersive speculative and fantasy novels (especially if inspired by an unusual setting or underrepresented history, mythology or culture), horror, dystopian, romance and thrillers - I am really interested in the cross-genre space generally too (I am totally here for horromance and dystomance). My taste leans darker generally but I love humour - an author who can fill me with wonder, scare me AND make me laugh is the dream! Your 'weird' or literary-leaning YA books may be for me. I'm interested in younger YA/teen as a category and would especially like to see contemporary, emotional novels (think John Green) and horror for readers aged 13+.
Whether you’re writing contemporary realism, genre-bending YA, speculative fiction, or romance with a twist, this event is designed to help you refine your work and understand what today’s editors are looking for. Bring your ideas, your questions, and your curiosity—and step inside the editor’s room.
