Event description

Description

An unmissable opportunity to hear from the voices of 10 Black British Female Academics through their book "Inside the Ivory Tower: narratives of women of colour surviving and thriving inside British academia". This powerful book is the result from 3 years of research and feature auto-ethnographies from 10 women academics. The event will feature an introduction from Dr Gabriel as to how Black Feminism was used to theorise their experience and to structure their research journey, and also the inadequacies of current diversity initiatives in Higher Education. An interactive workshop on the theme of anti-racism will follow the speaking event.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

This event is essential for anyone interested in equality, race, and gender within academia.

You can find out more information about the Authors here: http://blackbritishacademics.co.uk/research/inside-the-ivory-tower/
