Inspiral Re-walk 5 'Knots towards Batter Sea'

Join us for a unique walking event at Finchley Road Station Exit On Friday May 3 from 5.30pm – 8.30pm

Meeting at the exit of Finchley Road Tube.

We re-walk Segment 5 from Finchley Road to Battersea Park – approximately 7.5 miles (12 km). Picking up the re-walking of the complete InspiralLondon trail with Director Charlie Fox. This walk will trace some conscious and unconscious steps toward Batter Sea, a new land submerged in gigantesque furniture and with its glittering unreal reefs.

NOTE If you are unable to join us at the beginning of the walk - you can join us for a shorter walk by meeting us at 7pm at the exit of Bayswater Tube for a walk towards Battersea Bridge. You can book separately for this walk.

During this part of the walk we will explore the secret knots of the Early Britons, their sacrifices, rituals and their mapping of space, to immerse ourselves in the Celtic origins of London. Thinking together of the Celtic knots that bind the story and geometry of London, incarnated in the ritual offerings made in the River Thames along the Battersea.

This walk links to the following walks - on Saturday 4, Sunday 5 and Monday 6th May.

Part of InspiralLondon ReWalk, ReMap, ReTell 2024-2025

From Spring 2024 to 2025 InspiralLondon sets out to rewalk, remap and retell the 300 mile spiral trail, first walked in 2015. We invite all kinds of walkers, urban explorers and the curious to experience the magic of this unique pathway. InspiralLondon Rewalk is funded by tfl Walking and Cycling Grants for London (2024-2025)

Organised by

InspiralLondon - an ambitious artist-led project, working collectively,  to create a new walk trail spiraling out through London, from Kings Cross to Gravesend. The 300-mile pathway is divided into 36 easily accessible walk segments, allowing the public to experience the city as one vast art space in which to re-imagine the built and natural environment.

Expanding on the potential of walking as art, we use a variety of artistic practices and artistic interventions to offer an alternative platform that provides accessible and pleasurable ways to delve into under-explored and forgotten parts of the metropole, including its watery commons.

You can view the trail on our website and use the online maps to walk the trail.https://inspirallondon.com/
