This live and interactive network meeting offers an opportunity to pause, consider current issues in early childhood, and deepen understanding through professional dialogue.
In this session, we'll be joined by Professor Julie Fisher, who will introduce the main themes from the fifth edition of her inspiring book 'Starting from the Child?'
She will examine the impact of external influences on the role of early childhood educators and the subsequent effect on how young children are now learning.
Julie’s work challenges many prevailing messages about a sector that, she suggests, is being driven to prioritise the demands of adults over the needs of children, fearing that when we adopt practices that suggest ‘one size fits all’, we perpetuate a system that privileges those children who are school ready, and fails to offer an educational experience that fits each child like a glove, whatever their needs and abilities.
