About this event

Join us for a unique Bottengoms cultural creative workshop at Abbotts Hall Farm, a hidden gem that’s currently closed to the public. For one day only, its gates will open exclusively to our course participants, offering you the rare chance to explore its inspiring landscapes and rich heritage.

Course will include:

  • A full day workshop with Cy focusing on the skills needed for finding inspiration in the landscape and turning that inspiration into solid plans for artwork creation. At the end of the workshop you will take away a composition and plan for at least one artwork.
  • Two virtual feedback sessions with Cy that will be booked in after the workshop. These sessions will help guide you in the creation of your artwork/s and also give you advice on pricing.
  • An opportunity for your peers to support your creative process.
  • The chance for your work at be part of an Essex Wildlife Trust Exhibition in March. The exhibition will be marketed by Essex Wildlife Trust, giving you the opportunity to reach new audiences and to sell your work in a professional exhibition. You will also contribute to the vital conservation work of Essex Wildlife Trust as 20% of any sales will be donated to the Trust.

The workshop will be run by award winning artist Cy Baker. He has over 30 years of experience in the art world and has won multiple awards including being the overall winner of the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year 2022. He has dedicated his artistic career to using his art to raise awareness and funds for wildlife conservation and has so far raised over £43,000 for charities such as the Wildlife Trusts, Uganda Conservation Foundation and the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. He worked with the wildlife trusts on a year-long project in 2024, touring 53 different reserves across all 4 home nations, which culminated in a dedicated London based art auction that raised thousands of pounds for the Wildlife Trusts.

Please bring appropriate footwear/clothing for walking, camera, sketchbook and art supplies you will need for the day. Lunch will be provided as part of the workshop.
