Event description

Description

Join Dr Lynn Hulse, textile historian and embroiderer, for an authoritative introduction to historic stitch techniques. Lynn is the co-founder of Ornamental Embroidery and former Archivist at the Royal School of Needlework.

Working in silk and metal threads on a linen ground, you will embroider an Elizabethan-style cushion cover inspired by the gardens at Paycocke’s (National Trust) in Coggeshall using a variety of surface stitches, including long & short, satin, stem and split, French knot, couching and plaited braid stitch. A kit containing materials, needles and an instruction booklet will be provided. Please bring a pair of embroidery scissors and a 10-inch (25 cm) ring frame.

This two-day workshop runs on Friday 10th May and Saturday 11th May 2019 from 10am to 4:30pm.

The kit supplied is an additional cost of £35 payable to Lynn Hulse on the day.

You may also visit Paycocke’s garden for inspiration. National Trust members free entry.

Refreshments included.
