In this session, we will look at how to gather our data. Particularly in the current climate our activities, and our data gathering practices may have changed significantly, and so we may need to assess what data we are gathering and how we are getting this data. This session will be looking at:

  • expanding our ideas about what acceptable data sources are
  • whether this should be qualitative or quantitative (or both!)
  • engaging with our stakeholders in times of crisis / physical distance.
  • safe and ethical data management practice

The session will be 1 hour 30 mins and involve presentations, group discussions, and resource sharing.

Who for: anyone from civil society / social purpose orgs, but particularly those with some responsibility for impact management in their organisations, or through strategic oversight.

Book on to the other sessions in the series:

  • Inspiring Impact VCSE Management Workshop Series: #1 Using impact data on Thu, 14 January 2021 at 14:00 -
  • Inspiring Impact Workshop Series #3 Acting for Impact on Thu, 18 Mar 2021 14:00 -

South East Series: South East VCSE Inspiring Impact Regional Impact Management Workshop Series

The Format: This South East series is a part of the wider Inspiring Impact programme focused on developing impact management capacity within Civil Society organisations.

The three sessions will help attendees to use impact data for decision making, to identify methods for data gathering, and to develop an impact focused culture.

The first two sessions will focus on impact practice learning for practical delivery management, looking at using data for decision making, and data gathering methods. The third session will broaden out to a more strategic perspective both for organisations themselves, and also for a more collaborative perspective of the South East civil society sector looking more at embedding an impact focused culture into organisations.

Each session will be online, running for 1hr 30 mins, and will include presentation, group discussions, some exercises, and sharing of resources for attendees to use in their own practice.

We are also aiming to use these sessions as a forum to explore interest in continuing group networking and support in the SE region.

All of the sessions are free, and all resources are open source.

Who are the sessions for: These sessions are focused on VCSE organisations experience. Everyone from the VCSE sectors from across all parts of the South East are very welcome to join. People could be from all levels of experience, and any role within the organisations or sector more broadly, including those working in delivering social purpose activities, those in strategic decision-making positions, those interested in developing better VCSE sector connections and voice, and those in structural support roles and organisations supporting the VCSE sector.

The sessions will be particularly useful for people with some responsibility for impact management within their organisations.

The facilitators:

Social Value UK are the professional body for social value and impact management. As a member-led organisation, our collective mission is to change the way the world accounts for value. We aim to reduce environmental degradation and inequality and increase wellbeing for all. Social Value UK does this through standardising practice through the Principles of Social Value, brokering relationships and encouraging cross-sectoral collaboration, encouraging further accountability for impact, building a community of practitioners and encouraging innovation.

Social Value UK is a Joint Member Network of Social Value International, the global standard-setting organisation for social value and impact management:

Make an Impact CIC’s vision is to create a world where all businesses are social enterprises that make an impact on people and the planet. We believe that by 2020, unless all businesses are social enterprises, they will struggle and face closure. This is already starting to happen, but over the next few years this will happen more rapidly as businesses that just prioritise profits and ignore social impact cease to exist:

Inspiring Impact is a national programme on a mission to make good impact practice the norm by creating a culture of continuous improvement among voluntary organisations. We provide free online resources and peer learning networks so you can plan, understand, and improve your impact:
