To celebrate International Women's Day Rosie Duffield and the Kent Labour Women's Officers invite you to come together with other Labour women to be inspired and work together to get more women involved at every level of politics.

In the current political climate we believe women's voices are more important than ever, and we've got some fantastic keynote speakers, training sessions and plenty of opportunities to meet other Kent Labour women to create networks of solidarity and support.

We'd like to invite Labour Women from across Kent to join us here in Canterbury for a day of training and inspiration, a chance to come together close to International Women's Day with a view to getting more Kent women directly involved in politics.

Keynote speakers

Frances Scott, founder of 50:50 Parliament currently running the #AskHerToStand campaign with the ambition of equal representation in politics for women by petitioning Parliament to debate and take action.

Dr Laura Cashman, Programme Director for Politics and International Relations at Canterbury Christchurch University who will be speaking about why women's voices are so important within the context of the current political climate.

Rosie Duffield MP will be speaking about her belief that if a Labour woman can be elected in Canterbury it can happen everywhere!

Lunch and networking

Following the keynote speeches there will be an opportunity to network and chat over a buffet lunch and have a look at the stalls set up by some of the great campaigning organisations Labour Women are involved with in Kent such as: Waspi, Kent Refugee Action Network, Save our NHS, Porchlight and others.

After lunch we'll have a series of training sessions available for delegates to choose from on subjects like:

- Running an effective campaign
- How to run for local council
- Media training

The event is free to all attendees but we do ask for a donation (at the door) towards the running costs of the day from those who feel able to contribute.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Centre is situated on the A28 on the Thanington Road approximately a mile from the cathedral City of Canterbury. Wincheap Park & Ride is just round the corner, a No 1 bus stops opposite the Centre and Canterbury East railway station is a short distance away. There is ample free parking, dropped kerb and designated blue badge holder bays

Can I bring my kids?

Please feel free to bring children but unfortunately we cannot provide any childcare so parents must be responsible.
