LAUREN STONEY: ‘When burnout hits...and lightning strikes: Applying the science of the mind-body connection to rebuild your health from chronic illness.’
Lauren Stoney, Health & Performance Coach, and Lightning Process Practitioner, discovered first-hand the power we have to influence our physical health when she was diagnosed with a supposedly 'lifelong' illness in 2016. After being signed off work, and being told she’d have to take lifelong medication, she reached desperation and decided to do the Lightning Process. She never looked back.
She ditched the prescription, and went back to her career in marketing. Now, having retrained in coaching, NLP, hypnotherapy and the Lightning Process, Lauren works with others struggling with chronic health issues and burnout to help them be the success they want to see in the world whilst thriving in their health.
So many people today are living with anxiety, depression and chronic illness – being told there is nothing that can be done; that they have to live with this. But it doesn’t have to be this way. And chronic illness does not have to be lifelong. Lauren’s story gives hope to anyone struggling with these issues.

JULIAN WATKINS: ‘Step on - The power of a first move.’
In 1997 Julian was working in a dead-end, minimum wage job at Manchester airport when he had a chance encounter with an airline captain. He’s not sure why even now, but he asked him how he got where he was. The answer was strikingly simple: “I picked a first move, made that move. Then even when things got tough and I doubted myself, I kept going.” The captain went and Julian never saw him again.
This conversation stuck in Julian’s head. It seemed too simplistic but also so wise. For weeks he pondered. One Saturday morning while lying on a mattress (no bed bit back then) in his friend’s box room that he was renting, something clicked. Maybe, just maybe. “Pick the first move”.
Julian went downstairs and picked up the Yellow Pages (if you’re young it’s a big booky thing for looking up companies!) He flicked through to flying clubs. He chose one. He dialed the number. That was the first move.
Ten years from that day Julian was a British Airways captain.
It was far from an easy journey. There were many times he considered giving up. But the captain’s words stayed with him.
In 2015 Julian stopped flying after a medical issue. He now helps others on their own tough journeys to health. He specializes in weight loss, often working with people who have almost given up. He employs many behaviour change techniques but never forgets the power of a first step.
There is usually an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the evening or of course, you can chat to the speakers during the break.
