Balloon buggies, Cartesian divers and Vibrating brush monsters

About this event

This virtual workshop is aimed at those who wish to inspire and enthuse the next generation through these fun, engaging design and build experiences.

Participants will be guided through how to make working models of a balloon buggy, Cartesian diver and a vibrating brush monster. These tie in with primary curriculum learning objectives in forces, materials, electricity and D&T.

The workshop will be led by professional engineer and STEM Ambassador Caroline Alliston who has 12 years’ experience in STEM education. It will include insights into STEM engagement at primary schools, instructions on how to build the models and explanations of the science involved. There will be opportunities to ask questions after each make and at the end.

Hints will be given about how to conduct the activities in class and a lesson plan, PowerPoint and pupil worksheet for each activity will be made available.
