About this Event
Join us for our first inspiring & informative Workforce for the Future workshop- Inspiring thinking: the benefits of employing young people.
This interactive workshop will highlight how employing a young person in your business can bring new ideas and fresh thinking as well as providing an opportunity to start their career.
During this workshop you’ll hear first-hand experience from Becca Thurston, Early Careers Manager at Wessex Water and one of their apprentices, Sally Melvin, Chief Executive of Charity - Ablaze who support businesses to mentor young people and Alex Richards, Operations Director of the Western Training Provider Network who has worked with young people across traineeships and apprenticeships for many years.
You’ll gain advice and guidance on how to prepare your business to work with young people and what you need to consider from recruitment to mentoring and training. You’ll also receive best practice advice on ways to employ young people, ‘on board’ and support them in your business.
Our Head of Skills, Nicky Williams, will also explain the benefits of government employment initiatives from the new Kickstart programme to T-Levels which will help you to provide employment opportunities for young people.
Workforce for the Future programme can help your business identify employee development areas, plan and adapt for the future, upskill and retrain employees and access new talent.
Business West is delivering Workforce for the Future in collaboration with other partners and the West of England Combined Authority.
