Description

Instant Actioning Workshop

Do you struggle to stay completely in the moment on stage?

Do you find it difficult to engage with extensive 'book-work'?

Do you want to shake up your character work?

Come and spend a day working with Living Record Productions and find out about Instant Actioning - our unique method of working actively in the rehearsal room on text. This method has been used on all our productions to date and directly contributes to the vivid and vital nature of our work.

Instant Actioning is a blend of learnings from some of the greats - Stanislavski, of course, and Mike Alfreds - it's actioning and forming a character but up on your feet, moving around. This technique covers all bases, it's great for Shakespeare and for new writing.

You will be taken on a series of exercises to teach the group with the technique, a chance for personal character explorations and the chance to discuss and ask us questions. We hope to reinvigorate your practice as a performer and add to your toolbox-you'll go away with exercises you can do at home.

Instant Actioning is particularly useful for dyslexic performers as we connect the actions to movements, rather than book-work so you learn through your body first and foremost.

The workshop will be run by Artistic Director of Living Record Productions, Ross Drury.

Ross is an international director currently working on an immersive large-scale production in Milan. As well as founding Living Record Productions, he is also an associate artist of The Pantaloons. Notable directing credits outside of Living Record include his work as an associate director of Russell Bolam for Jagged Fence's productions of The Seagull and Three Sisters at The Southwark Playhouse, and his award winning production of Philip Ridley's Sparkleshark at the Brighton Fringe.

Ross completed a Masters of Drama degree in Theatre Directing in 2008, where his final production of Sarah Kane's 4.48 Psychosis went on to win an award at the NSDF. He continued his professional director training at East 15 Acting School and the National Theatre Studio.
