Institute of Physics Link School Meeting
Event Information
Description
To support teachers of GCSE Physics in meeting the requirements of the GCSE practicals
At this meeting the following practicals will be demonstrated, background theory explained and suggestions made for how to tackle the experiments if equipment is limited:
- Measuring specific heat capacity (aluminium and water) including related calculations
- Plotting voltage current graphs for resistors, filament lamps and diodes
- Measuring acceleration – investigating F = ma
- Ripple tank experiments:
- Measurement of velocity, frequency and wavelength
- Demonstrating reflection
- Demonstrating refraction - Resistors / lamps in series and parallel
- Refraction of light by a rectangular glass block.
Other issues can be addressed if you let us know a few days in advance.
FREE to attend but booking essential.
