Instrumented spinal surgery
This course is suitable for experienced vets (advanced practitioners, residents, specialists) regularly performing decompressive spinal surgery, who want to develop skills and knowledge for the management of cervical spondylomyelopathy (ventral cervical distraction-fusion, featuring Fusion Implants custom interbody spacers), thoracolumbar fracture fixation, and degenerative lumbosacral stenosis (dorsal interlaminar lumbosacral distraction-fusion, featuring Fusion Implants pedicle screw system) with relevant skills applicable to other conditions.
The course will cover:
· Pathophysiology of CSM, DLSS, and thoracolumbar fracture/malformation
· Diagnostic imaging, pre-operative management and case selection
· Surgical approach and technique – thoracolumbar and lumbosacral (Day 1) Thoracolumbar fixation theory, lumbosacral disease and two practical sessions that cover use of our custom 3D-Printed drill guides and pedicle system.
· Surgical approach and technique – cervical (Day 2)
· Troubleshooting / complications
· Post-operative patient management
Fusion Implants Patient Specific Intervertebral Spacer
This is an course in advanced veterinary spinal surgey, focusing on instrumented spinal surgey and the use of the Fusion Implants Pedicle System and application of Fusion Implants Patient Specific Intervertebral Spacer, as seen in 'Instrumented cervical fusion using patient specific end-plate conforming interbody devices with a micro-porous structure in nine dogs with disk-associated cervical spondylomyelopathy' (2023) by Driver at al.
Covering cervical spondylomyelopathy case selection, imaging and planning and cervical vertebral distraction-fusion-technique, right through to practical sessions on bone grafting, ventral neck approach and intervertebral spacer implantation.
This is not a course to miss for those veterinary surgeons looking to advance and progress their spinal clinical caseload.
