About the Programme

The Insurance Cross-Company Returner Programme is an UK-wide returner initiative aimed at employers in the insurance sector. The 6-month returner programme provides experienced professionals who have taken career breaks of 18 months or more with a supported route back to professional level roles.

Women Returners will partner with participating organisations to design, promote, support and manage a sector focused cross-company returner programme, using a proven model which has been highly successful in other sectors.

Returner participants will join the programme on a 6-month paid returnship placement at one of the participating firms. While undertaking a real job they will benefit from virtual transition support provided by Women Returners. They will also benefit from being part of a cross-company peer cohort of returners.

Women Returners will leverage their prior experience delivering successful cross-company returner programme in other sectors. Women Returners created and run the Diversity Project Cross-Company Returner programme attracting returner talent into the Investment and Saving Sector. The programme has grown year-on-year since 2020 with a 2023 conversion rate of 92%.

How the Programme will benefit your organisation

Organisations will benefit from expertise and guidance from the return-to-work experts alongside Employer Toolkits, Returner Inclusive Recruitment training, interviewer and line manager briefing sessions and ongoing programme support. As the programme will be designed with a cross-company structure, participating organisations will also benefit from a collaborative forum with other organisations.

The Programme provides employers the opportunity to attract experienced returner talent. A returner programme is an effective way to increase the diversity of gender, age and experience and to address skills gaps within your organisation.

This is a great opportunity to pilot a small-scale returner programme (1-5 placements) while benefiting from being part of a larger programme structure and publicity.

As the programme is delivered across multiple companies, economies of scale ensure a cost-effective model for hiring high calibre and experienced talent.
