Event description

Description

This is a two day course which teaches intagilo printmaking techniques. Intaglio means the design is cut or incised into a surface, but in fact we will also build up textures. The printing is done with an etching press and dampened paper.

On Day One, we will make collagraphs using card and textured papers and objects. These will be varnished to print on the second day. Also on Day One we will make drypoint etchings by scratching an image onto the surface of plastic, learn how to prepare the paper and print with the press.

On Day Two, we will print the collagraphs and drypoint etchings and make more etchings on tetrapacks. We introduce coloured inks and 'chine colle' (a collage technique) into the printing process.

All materials are provided. Students are encouraged to bring a variety of images to work from, including their own drawings and photographs or pictures found in magazines or books.

Suitable for all levels, from artists to complete beginners.
