INTEGRATE are delighted to host the first Research Competencies and Development Course in partnership with the NIHR Clinical Research Network West Midlands and Cochrane ENT Group.
The first day will encompass a face-to-face workshop in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, with certification. This is a requirement of the Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care 2005, the policy covering all research in the NHS in England, and in law (SI 2004/1031, Schedule 1, Part 2, 8) for those people working on clinical trials.
The second day will be run by the Core Editorial team of the Cochrane ENT Group (Prof Ann Schilder, Prof Martin Burton, Jenny Bellorini and Sam Faulkner). It will be an interactive event, focusing on developing skills needed to produce quality systematic reviews (including working up a PICO question, designing a search, interpreting ‘summary of findings’ tables & forest plots, and clear writing).
Demonstrating appropriate Research and Critical Appraisal Skills is a CCT requirement. Further, the SAC has also recently decided it will soon be a CCT requirement to have completed GCP training. The two-day event is therefore tailored to ENT trainees looking to become ‘Research Ready’ for CCT.
