INTEGRATED SUPPORT: Exploring how education and other services can work together to better support care leavers
The focus of the Care Leaver Progression Partnership is on education and progression, however we all recognise that education cannot be looked at in isolation. In order for care leavers to succeed and thrive, they will often a need a strong network of people and support services as they move towards independent living.
Support services need to work together to provide a joined-up support package, which can at times present challenges; there may be conflicting organisational priorities, a lack of understanding about each other's roles, or differences in expectations. At the heart of it are the young people themselves, and the desire of all those who support them to help them maximise their potential.
This conference will bring together education practioners and other services who are involved in supporting care leavers, to help facilitate better understanding between them, and look at ways they might work better together.
Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from Roger Gough - Kent County Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, they will also hear from those involved in education, social work, and other support services, as well as from care leavers themselves. In the afternoon, there will be a selection of workshops to pick from, and all delegates will be given a resource pack to take away.
