Event description

Description

Do you know the human rights risks associated with the goods and services you’re buying? Is your company’s money being spent in line with its values? Are you doing all that you can?

The UK Global Compact Network and Hannah Temple and James Barlow from leading human rights consultancy twentyfifty are delighted to announce a one day workshop on human rights for individuals working with or within procurement departments.

One of the many ways in which companies may impact human rights is through how they spend their money. Ensuring procurement practices reflect company values is often challenging. We bring our own experience of implementing responsible procurement practices, meaningfully engaging stakeholders and working in supply chains to help participants to address these challenges.

This explorative, inspiring and practical workshop will support participants to:

  • Understand what is different about a human rights approach to procurement and why such an approach is critical for business success
  • Consider different approaches to identifying and prioritizing human rights risks along supply chains
  • Explore solutions to common challenges
  • Develop a profile of their organization’s procurement style
  • Investigate different ways to integrate human rights diligence into purchasing and procurement processes
  • Build a plan that is tailored to their company’s specific profile

Trainers:
James Barlow has over 12 years’ experience with responsible sourcing and senior sustainability leadership in PepsiCo as well as a further 10 years’ commercial, operational and R&D experience in Unilever and Campbell’s. James led PepsiCo’s input into the world’s first Carbon Reduction Label (Walkers Crisps) in collaboration with suppliers and co-developed an acclaimed supplier engagement strategy to retain it.

Hannah Temple has worked extensively on-the-ground across Asia, Africa, Europe and America supporting companies to understand their human rights risks and opportunities and to act on these powerfully and practically. Hannah has a gift for stakeholder engagement and has helped stakeholders - from governments to factories and from global brands to farms - to build relationships, increase capacity and improve performance.

The cost to attend the workshop is £595 for non-UNGC members, £475 for UNGC Signatories and £375 for UNGC participants. After registering, participants will receive an inovice and payment can be made via telephone or purchase order.
