Event description

Description

Join Shri Shiva Shankar for this in depth workshop where you will explore the flow of breath and how to integrate Pranayama and Mantra into an Asana Sequence.

There is an Early Booking Discount for this event until August 7 2019. Please see ticketing options for the discount.

Workshop Content:
You will focus on the flow of breath in posture and move towards the integration of Pranayama techniques into Asana; directing Prana - the vital force and its flow in the body under the expert guidance of Shiva Ji.

Pranayama deals directly with the subtler aspects of a yoga practice and most significantly physiologically, the nervous system. Through the use of breath and integration of Pranayama into Asana practice, Prana can be directed into different organ systems and for a variety of purposes that deepen an Asana practice.

Mantra or sacred sound vibration, help to alter subconscious impulses and habits, direct the healing power of Prana and act as a vehicle that directs or transports your awareness. You will explore how specific Mantra are traditionally incorporated into Asana practice in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition.

Suitable for all levels of experience. You will be guided at the level that is appropriate for your individual needs.

About Shri Shiva Shankar:
Since the age of nine, Shiva Ji was raised by his Spiritual Masters in the ancient cave monasteries and ashrams of the Great Yogis, where generations of Yogis have been initiated into the deepest mysteries of the sacred science of Veda andYoga. At the age of fourteen, he enrolled himself into the biggest Vedic University in the world: Maharshi Veda Vigyan Vishwa Vidyapeeth, where he was awarded first rank and was selected to visit the west to spread the vision of Sanatana Vaidika Dharma. He also trained directly with B.K.S Iyengar at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, attended the Bihar School of Yoga and the Yogoda Satsang Socitey where he took the Kriya Yoga course originally taught by ParamahansaYogananda, author of ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’.

In 1993 Shiva Ji met his Sadguru, Swami Chidananda Saraswati, who was the senior most disciple of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, former president of the Divine Life Society founded by Swami Sivananda in Rishikesh, Himalayas. He followed an ascetic lifestyle and served as a Sivananda disciple visiting ashrams, towns and villages across India teaching yoga, guiding young people and imparting Swami Sivananda’s teachings: Serve, love, meditate and realise. After spending an extended period of time living with ascetic Yogis in the Himalayas, he was initiated into the Himalayan tradition.

Shiva Ji also trained with many Masters along his path including his Sadguru Swami Chidananda Saraswati, Swami Adhyatmananda, SwamiYogaswarupananda, Swami Vishwarupananda, Rudradev Gauda, B.K.S Iyengar, Swami Vishwarupananda, Acharya Venkatesha and Swami Veda Bharati. He now teaches yoga in India and Internationally where he has taught people from all walks of life and is much loved by his students for his accessible approach and uplifting presence.
