The Department for Transport is developing an Integrated National Transport Strategy which will set the high-level direction for how transport should be designed, built and operated in England over the next 10 years.

As part of our approach to developing the strategy, we are inviting regional stakeholders with an interest in transport to attend this roadshow event. The event will consist of:

workshops to gather your views on the strategy,
how the strategy could contribute to improving transport,
and any regional transport issues or opportunities which should be considered.

The outputs from these sessions will be considered in the development of the Strategy.

Introduction

The Department for Transport is inviting organisations to join one of 11 regional roadshows to gather views on the development of the Integrated National Transport Strategy.

You have been invited to attend one of the regional roadshows as the Department for Transport and/or the sub-national transport bodies, Transport for London and London Councils have identified you as a stakeholder who may have an interest or experience in transport and the development of a transport strategy.

We have been working with the sub-national transport bodies, Transport for London and London Councils to identify regional stakeholders and ensure we have a representative split of attendees from a range of locations and organisations. As such, these organisations are managing the invite process on behalf of the Department for Transport.

What data we are collecting and how we will use it

We are processing the following personal data:

Organisation

Dietary requirements (optional)

Accessibility requirements (optional)

Personal data is required to ensure the successful facilitation of the roadshow events. Your name and organisation have been collected to identify you, and your email address will be used to contact you about the roadshows. Your dietary requirements and accessibility requirements, should you provide any, will be processed to ensure the roadshows are accessible and appropriately catered for.

Under data protection law, the lawful basis for processing your data is:

Article 6(1)(e) – public task

Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

As we are also processing your special category data, a further section of the UK GDPR applies:

Article 9(2)(a) – explicit consent

By providing the special category data, you provide consent for it to be processed as set out in this privacy notice.

Data sharing

Organisations who process personal data on our behalf:

Your personal data including special category data will be shared with Creative Concern who are our delivery partners for the roadshows.

Your personal data excluding special category data has been shared with sub-national transport bodies, Transport for London and London Councils to who are supporting DfT to manage the invite process.

How long we retain the data

Your personal data (name, email address, organisation) will be kept securely by DfT and securely destroyed within 2 years of DfT receiving the data.

Your special category data will be kept securely by DfT and anonymised/securely destroyed within 1 month of the regional roadshows ending.
