Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 March 2019.

Join us for 2 days of FREE deep-dive training sessions for FSI developers with industry experts from Intel® Software, NAG®, AWS, Google, Microsoft and many more.

This event is ideal for software developers, quants, data scientists, technical and project managers that work in or produce applications for the Finance industry, with a focus on HPC optimisation and AI applications for FSI.

Grey Matter is hosting this event in collaboration with Intel® Software. The workshop will take place at the De Vere Canary Wharf conference building in London. Please note that when you register, your data will be shared with both Grey Matter and Intel Software for the purposes of organising this event.

You have the option to attend either one or both of the days. Complimentary WiFi, food and refreshments are included in these training sessions. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please email info@greymatter.com.

You will also get the chance to network with peers and experts from the industry.

Please find the agenda and topics below, but note that the agenda is subject to change. The workshop is split into two tracks each day: (1) HPC/Cloud and (2) AI & Machine Learning.


DAY 1 - Intel Sessions and Guest Speakers

08:30 - 18:00

On Wednesday 27 March, the workshop is split into two tracks. These sessions are presentations and demos. You will not be required to do any hands-on elements.

Please note: you can only sign up to/attend ONE of the two tracks.

In the evening we will have some networking drinks.


TRACK 1 - HPC / Cloud

For this track you MUST have a valid NDA signed with Intel® Software, you will not be able to attend if you don't. Please make sure to register with your professional address to allow for NDA compliancy check process. For more information please email to laurent.duhem@intel.com.

This track is for advanced developers.

  • Producing robust numerical libraries with repeatable results / NAG

TRACK 2 - AI / Machine Learning

This track will focus on AI and Machine Learning, and is suitable for intermediate developers.

The topics include:

  • Getting started with AI on Intel Platforms

  • Deep-dive into Intel®'s software developer tools portfolio for AI, Deep Learning and Machine Learning

  • Speed up Machine Learning and Analytics with Intel® Software

  • Scaling analytics/ML codes in Python with Intel® High Performance Analytics Toolkit

  • Deep Learning inference acceleration with Intel® Deep Learning Deployment Toolkit

  • NLP Architect: an Open Source library for Natural Language Processing

  • Plus technical case studies by guest speakers

DAY 2 - Hands-On Labs

08:30 - 18:00

On Thursday 28 March, the workshop is again split into two tracks. However, these are hands-on sessions.

TRACK 1 - HPC / Cloud

  • A refresh on computer organisation and architecture (talk)

  • Compiler adoption guide for FSI (hands-on/lab)

  • An introduction of the Intel® FPGA SDK for OpenCL (hands-on/lab)

  • Plus additional labs to be announced


TRACK 2 - AI / Machine Learning

  • Speed-up Machine Learning and Analytics with Intel® Software (hands-on/lab)

  • Scaling analytics/ML codes in Python with Intel® High Performance Analytics Toolkit (hands-on/lab)

  • Deep Learning inference acceleration with Intel® Deep Learning Deployment Toolkit (hands-on/lab)

  • Plus additional labs to be announced
