About this event

Arts • Craft

Our Level 1 Calligraphy Courses have both sold out, and we're delighted to announce that we are re-running the course, this time as an intensive course over just two Sundays! The course will be run by Ustadh Ahmad Mohamad, a traditionally trained calligrapher and member of the Egyptian General Association of Calligraphers.

The sessions comprise a graded learning series introducing students to Arabic calligraphy. Over the course, you will learn how to write Arabic letters and words using a calligrapher's pen, focusing on the essential techniques needed to master the basics of Arabic calligraphy. The course includes practice of individual letters, learning about the balance and proportion of letters, and applying calligraphy to different surfaces (such as canvas or cloth). In addition, students will gain an appreciation for the deeper meaning behind the letters and words, helping them connect with the art form on a more profound level. The sessions will follow the structure of our usual six-week calligraphy course, and we expect to have covered at least 2/3 of the letters by the end of the course.

These sessions will run on Sunday 28th September and Sunday 5th October, 2:00pm–7:00pm.The course price includes admission to both sessions, which will include a half-hour break at the mid-point.

Ticketing Clarification

Eventbrite does not allow for a single ticket to cover 2 dates, as such the date of the ticket is the first date of the course. However, do not worry - by buying an early bird or general admission ticket, you will have access to the whole course and are able to show up for both sessions.

Parking

There is good street parking available nearby on a Sunday, especially towards the top of Edward Road opposite.
