As someone who has practiced in the culture sector as curator, an educator, an organiser and administrator I have often set my intentions of my practice based on my own ethics. What am i willing to do and not do to work in the culture sector.

You may ask yourself is this session for me? The session is open to anyone who is curious on how to better understand how to navigate their own practice and those of organisations they may work with and for. We all have our own politics, our own ethics, our own standards, but sometimes we are not yet clear on what they are. Or you may be very clear on your own ethics however, you may be stuck working in a situation that you find to be problematic. Or perhaps you want to get better at stating your intentions when you enter a work relationship.

In the 2 hour session, we will create a space to hold a conversation on our practices and why we do what we do. And set intentions of how we wish to practice starting with our own ethics (beliefs, values, etc). You will be asked to prepare for the session by answering a series of questions about your practice and the intention of your practice.

Before the session:

The session will require that you do some preparation in the form of answering a series of questions sent to you five days prior to the event. You will be asked to share your responses with the group. You are asked to participate to get the most out of the session. You will need a device to be live on the platform. You will not be asked to prepare a formal presentation. It is suggested you bring along something to take notes.

About Teresa Cisneros:

Teresa Cisneros is a curator, art educator and arts administrator. She’s worked with institutions including at Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts), Tate Modern, 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning, Nottingham Contemporary, The Showroom and the Wellcome Collection, as well as with the collective sorryyoufeeluncomfortable. She co-founded the independent curatorial collective agency in 2015 and is also co-director / founder of b.Dewitt Gallery a new gallery project platforming and contextualising art practices. Cisneros' projects and work explore the politics of identity, history and contemporary art practices.
