Interactive Films Mash-up / Hack Weekend
Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 9:00 AM - Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 6:00 PM (GMT)
London, United Kingdom
At least 5 tools for making interactive, non-linear films have launched in the last year.
Not had the occasion to use them?
Do you want to?
Come along to the first annual interactive film mash-up / hack weekend.
Use the tools or hack something totally new. Totally up to you!
Mission: by 6pm Sunday evening, create a short interactive film
Who? filmmakers, documentarians, journalists, videographers, photographers, cinematographers, web developers, mobile developers (amateurs and pros welcome -- this is a learning environment)
While most of these tools are made to be used by non-coders, some of them can be improved / adapted using code and thus we welcome some developers to the weekend.
Developers are encouraged to come and to work with filmmakers to hack together something new, too! (don't feel limited to the tools)
Come to make an interactive film. Come to learn about the tools and how to use them (experts will not be on hand but we are looking forward to learning together :)
Takeaway: the knowledge and experience of using a new tools and hopefully an improved network
Some new interactive documentary tools : 3WDoc, StoryPlanet, Klynt, popcorn.js, Webdoc, Galahad (the Swarm) and Zeega
Supplies: Bring your laptops, memory drives and disks (stock footage to share!), URLs for your favourite online archives, cameras, current projects, whatever you need to make films.
Prize: At the end of the weekend (about 3pm on Sunday) we will present what's been created and vote on all the films and the best one will get a mystery prize.
Snacks and beer/wine will be provided.
