Event description

Description

Jane Adu will present results from her MSc research on using Black Panther video clips in training sessions.

The presentation will be followed by an interactive game session. While playing the card game you will be introduced to real-life, cultural and language-related questions and situations, mainly in a Norwegian context, while comparing it to your own cultural expectations. Learning takes place through group discussions where you are encouraged to focus on empathy and tolerance for each other’s differences and those posed by the Norwegian language and culture. The diversophy® card categories are named to fit different learning challenges: diversiSMARTS cards test factual knowledge, diversiCHOICE ask us to pick a course of appropriate behavior in a Norwegian cultural setting, while diversiRISK cards subject us to surprise happenings. diversiGUIDE cards impart wisdom from Norwegian culture and from those who have fathomed it well, while diversiSHARE cards ask you to compare Norwegian cultural approaches to everyday situations with what you were raised to believe or do.

The diversophy card game is for learning in groups of up to 8 people. Several groups may play simultaneously with a single game package. diversophy® (wisdom about differences) is the Norwegian version of an award–winning tool developed by Dr George Simons, that has improved learners’ cultural awareness (www.diversophy.com).
