About this event

Business • Design

Have you ever wondered how interior design impacts the planet’s ecosystems?

This engaging and interactive workshop uses a visually-led, science-informed tool—the Biodiversity Collage—to help you understand the causes and consequences of biodiversity loss, and how the design industry plays a role. Specifically adapted for interior designers, this session turns complex science into practical, creative insight.

WHAT TO EXPECT

● A hands-on, gamified workshop format that promotes discussion and collaboration

● Clear, accessible explanations of biodiversity loss and its root causes

● Insight into how interior design projects and materials contribute to global environmental pressures

● Design-specific case studies and real-world examples

● Frameworks for action, helping you and your business shift from awareness to tangible change

Programme:

● Introduction to biodiversity and the three pillars that support it

● Collaborative creation of the Biodiversity Collage

● Group discussion on key pressures and industry-specific impacts

● Practical planning using the “Inaction Triangle” and action frameworks

● Q&A and resource sharing

WHAT YOU WILL LEAVE WITH

● A strong understanding of how biodiversity loss affects everyone—and how your work as a designer can either help or harm

● A completed Biodiversity Collage that maps the connections between design and nature

● An “Inaction Triangle” handout to identify blockers to change

● Tools to start developing a realistic, design-specific biodiversity action plan

● Inspiration to lead conversations on sustainability with clients and collaborators

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This session is ideal for:

● Interior designers and design consultants

● Studio founders, specifiers, and procurement teams

● Sustainability leads and project managers in design practices

● Anyone curious about how design can align with nature and reduce harm

● No prior scientific knowledge required—just curiosity and an open mind.
