Intermediate Collections Care

Who should attend?
This session is aimed at those who have already attended an Introduction to Collections Care session delivered by Helena Jaeschke CDO, or who already have a basic grounding in collection care knowledge.
What will you learn?
During the day, topics will include:
- Integrated Pest Management
- Pest identification
- Environmental monitoring
- Interpretation of RH/temperature graphs
- Basic object cleaning
- Packaging for transport and long term storage
Wiltshire Council’s Conservation & Museums Advisory Service (CMAS)
CMAS works with heritage organisations across Wiltshire and beyond. As an Institute of Conservation (ICON) accredited service with over 40 years experience, we work to recognise professional standards providing advice and support to ensure that collections can be preserved and enjoyed for the future.
Gabrielle Flexer – Conservator. Gabrielle completed her MA in Conservation of Archaeological and Museum Objects at Durham University, gaining experience at the Manchester Museum. She has been part of the Conservation and Museums Advisory Service since graduation and is currently working towards accreditation with ICON.
Sebastian Foxley – Conservator. Sebastian studied conservation at the University of Lincoln. He joined the Wiltshire Council Conservation and Museums Advisory Service (CMAS) in 2007, having previously worked for museums in Glasgow and Doncaster and for the National Coal Mining Museum in Yorkshire. Sebastian has experience of working with a wide variety of materials including metals, plastics, ceramics and wood.
