Will DRST provide the tools?

DRST will provide the chainsaws and large axes for each group. Bring your own billhooks and other hand tools.

Will this course teach me how to use a chainsaw?

No. If you have no chainsaw experience this course is not for you. You must have at least the City&Guilds level 2 Certificates of Competence in chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting (0039-20), and felling small trees up to 380mm.(0039-21),or the NPTC equivalents, CS 30/31.

Will DRST provide the PPE?

No, you must provide your own chainsaw PPE. You will only be allowed to use the chainsaws if you are wearing the correct PPE.

If you're looking to take your hedge laying skills to the next level, this course is perfect for you. Our DRST instructors will show you how to create functional hedges from neglected and poorly maintained hedges using chainsaws and axes. This course is only suitable for those with some experience of hedgelaying, it is not suitable for those with little or no experience of hedgelaying. You will be working in groups of 2 with an instructor and helper to learn the safe way to use a chainsaw and axe in hedgelaying.
