This ten-week course is term-time only, taking place on Wednesdays 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
Join BAFTA-accredited screenwriter Freya as she delves into advanced principles of dramatic writing. Students will also gain an unprecedented insight into the business behind of screen, stage and radio, plus knowledge for how best to prepare and sell their idea in one of the most coveted industries.
Focuses include:
- Honing your own unique writer’s voice
- Identifying the seven basic plots
- Understanding the stock characters used in dramatic writing
- Planning and pitching an idea
- Creation of loglines and treatments
- The role of conflict and pacing in narrative
- How peer review can shape the final product
This is a highly practical course with a focus on individual artistic voice and development of ideas. At the end of the ten weeks, students will have completed a 10-15 page short script for any of the three main mediums and will explore next steps to take going forward into the working industry.
This course is suited to those who have already completed our Scriptwriting 101 beginners course, or who are more experienced in scriptwriting and want to take the next step towards a professional career.
