Intermediate - Upcycling Sewing Machine One Day Workshop

Intermediate - Upcycling Sewing Machine One Day Workshop

By Steph Thannhauser

Overview

This is an intermediate sewing day for those who want to further their skills. The day focuses on upcycling fabrics and how to use them.
“My soul is fed with needle and thread”

This is an intermediate sewing day and together with your sewing machine we shall explore upcycling fabrics.

Who is this day for?

This day is for those who are confident using their sewing machine but would like to explore upcycling and living more sustainably. You may have completed Beginners with me previously, however, if you are usure whether you are skilled enough for this class, please contact me.

Details

The 5-hour day (half an hour is allowed for lunch and a bit of time either end of the day for set up and clear up) is held in a room in Westbury Arts Centre where we have plenty of space to learn and make. This workshop is all about immersing yourself in the joy of creativity, ditching perfectionism and embracing the fun of creating. Steph has over 35 years of experience with sewing and making things and is keen to share her love of making and creating, so please join her for the chance to learn, make and grow.

What will I make during the day?

  • You will learn how to harvest preloved fabric then explore using the materials in your sewing projects.
  • You'll make a zip pouch or christmas stocking with preloved fabrics.
  • You will learn how to sew with stretch fabric then make a headband.
  • Steph will guide you through every step in this relaxed, informal and fun class.
  • You will go home with two completed items in day - yey!

Steph provides everything you need for the day, but please bring to class:

  • Sewing machine
  • Pen and pencil.
  • Notebook.
  • Hand sewing needles and some pins.
  • Thread - white will do for most items we'll make on the day but bring other colours if you have them.
  • Sharp scissors, preferably a small pair and a large pair for cutting out fabric.

Refreshments

Please bring your lunch as there are no shops nearby. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day.

Parking

There is ample free parking at Westbury.

Testimonials

Another great day with Steph learning loads and walking away with useful items – Debbie

Great workshop - always a great day out and learn new ways to use my machine.

Thank you so so much for today. I’m at home and I’m in awe of what I’ve done. How have I waited so long to do this? This is the second sewing course I’ve ever been on, both run by Steph and look back at both and I can’t believe the advanced items I’ve made. They look so professional. Jacqueline

Would recommend to anyone! Brilliant class, great trainer, learnt loads and have 2 things to take away! Ellie
