About this event

Speaker: Liz Martins

Venue: ONLINE via Zoom and CATCH-UP for 28 days.

Event Description:

In this one-day workshop for Brighton Therapy Partnership, Liz Martins, a Lead Trainer for the IFS Institute, offers an introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS).

IFS, developed by Richard Schwartz, conceives of every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self. It is a non-pathologising and highly relational model that provides a roadmap to transformational healing for a wide range of issues including trauma, attachment injury, and neglect. It has been described by Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, as ‘the treatment method that all clinicians should know in order to treat clients effectively’.

In this workshop you will receive an introductory grounding in the principles and practice of IFS. As well as providing foundational theory, the workshop will offer experiential exercises, a video or live demo of IFS in action, and plenty of time for questions and discussion.

This workshop is suitable for any counsellor or psychotherapist who is IFS-curious and wants to find out more about the model. It may help you to decide whether to commit to apply for the Level 1 training offered by the IFS Institute and their international partners. However, the main aim will be for you to gain some IFS-inspired ideas and understanding that can support you in your work with your clients right now.

There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions.

Please note: This is not an IFS Institute training; it is offered independently through Brighton Therapy Partnership and Liz Martins.

Trainer:

Liz Martins is a Certified IFS Therapist, supervisor and Lead Trainer and Approved Clinical Consultant with the IFS Institute (Illinois, USA). She is, based in Bath, and works online throughout the UK and internationally.
