Event description
The conference aims to make visible research contributions of academics from global majority ethnic backgrounds in the chemical sciences.

About this event

In the UK, less than 1% of all chemistry academics are Black, and just 1.3% of chemistry PhD students are Black. Thus, with such a small pool, there is a need to make visible their research contributions in the chemical sciences. This is made even more important by the need to diversify the curriculum in Higher Education (HE).

We recognise the importance of collaborating with different stakeholders to make a positive contribution to diversifying the curriculum in HE. The Royal Society of Chemistry has sponsored a series of workshops and a research conference, and these have been organised in partnership with academics, students, members of different professional services groups, and a learning science company, McGraw-Hill.

This is a call for students, academics, and researchers in the chemical sciences to register to attend the conference.

The organisers of the conference welcome online submissions for poster presentations in any area of chemistry via the following website. Submission for oral presentations is now closed.

Prizes will be available for best poster presentations.

Target audience: Students, academics, and researchers in the chemical sciences

Vision: “To showcase research contributions of scientists from global majority ethnic backgrounds in the field of chemical sciences with the future goal of embedding their work in the curriculum in higher education”

Please register to attend.
