York St John University and the Institute for Social Justice present the International Conference on Polices and Parental Support.

About this event

The York Business School in association with the Institute for Social Justice are organising an International Conference on Policies and Parental Support which will provide a platform for discussion on various aspects of social and legal policies that impacts parents in the workplace, at home and in society. The conference provides a unique international and interdisciplinary opportunity for academics, employers, practitioners, consultants, scholars, researchers and policymakers with diverse backgrounds and experiences to present their papers, engage in expert discussions, and network with people from different countries.

Keynote Speakers

Professor Udy Archibong, MBE

Professor Udy Archibong, MBE is the Pro Vice Chancellor [Equality, Diversity and Inclusion] at the University of Bradford. Professor Archibong directs the Centre for Inclusion and Diversity and provides strategic oversight for equality, diversity and inclusion [EDI] across the institution. She obtained a BSc (First Class) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria in 1990, a PhD from Hull University in 1995 and was promoted to Professor of Diversity with a cross disciplinary and institutional portfolio in 2004. She is a Fellow of the West African College of Nursing and a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing. She was listed in the New Year Honours list 2015 and was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to higher education and equality.

Mark Williams - Fathers and Perinatal Mental Health

Mark Williams is a Keynote Speaker, Published Author and International Campaigner. He founded International Fathers Mental Health Day and the #HowAreYouDad Campaign to help ensure that all parents and families are supported throughout the perinatal period.

Mark has spoken on television and radio stations around the world. Working alongside Dr Jane Hanley, he has published articles and books on Fathers (Paternal) Mental Health.

Mark is also an Ambassador for Mothers for Mother’s Charity

Call for Papers

The International Conference on Policies and Parental Support, August 8th – 9th August, 2022, York St John University Campus, York, UK provides an international platform for academics, practitioners, consultants, scholars, researchers and policymakers with diverse background and experiences to present their papers, engage in expert discussions, get feedback and network from people from different countries. Abstracts will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, research depth, accuracy and relevance to the conference themes and topics. Questions and queries about submission can be sent to ICPPS@yorksj.ac.uk.

Given the interdisciplinary nature of the conference, contributions are invited under the following broad themes:

- Social policies and its impact on parents and families

- Legal policies and its impact on parents and families

- Policies and its implications on social justice

- The impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on parents and families

- The impact of Brexit on policies and support parents and families
